Stena Line Ports Ltd (SLPL) operates the ports of Holyhead and Fishguard in Wales and Loch Ryan Port in Scotland. Each of these ports has an established Marine Safety Management System (MSMS) detailing how the port complies with the Port Marine Safety Code. Each of the ports operates busy ferry routes between Wales and the Republic of Ireland and Scotland and Northern Ireland. The port also has regular cruise ship visits, cargo vessel use and a large recreational community.
The UK Port Marine Safety Code requires harbour authorities to seek an independent and systematic audit to ensure that their MSMS is being operated effectively.
SLPL commissioned ABPmer to carry out an external audit of its Ports. The audit determined compliance with the requirements of the PMSC and whether the procedures within the MSMS were reflected within operations carried out.
Our specialists regularly provide “Health Check” audits to help port authorities remain compliant with the Port Marine Safety Code. Learn more about our PMSC audit services.
