Mooring Analysis
The Government of Gibraltar appointed GJB Ltd, a Gibraltar based contractor, to undertake the design and construction for a new marina capable of accommodating 700 boats with lengths of up to 9.0m. The new harbour also provides berthing facilities for superyachts up to 165 m long.
ABPmer was commissioned by AKSWard, the designers of the new marina facility, to conduct a mooring assessment. The assessment considered loading forces from superyachts that would be berthed at the new development.
The aim of the assessment was to provide a set of desk-based mooring calculations to inform the design of the berthing/quay caissons which constitute the outer perimeter of the marina development.
